Disney categorizes it’s 20+ resorts into categories. In this weeks vlogs I talked about the three categories and then how amenities differ from category to category. For the breakdown of categories, see below. For more information on amenities you have to watch the video!!!
Disney World’s Value Resorts offer basic accommodations at the lowest price point. They serve a basic purpose of a clean, comfortable, safe place to sleep while on your Disney vacation. Rooms are 260 sq. ft. with two double beds or one king bed. They offer fun, bright, kid-friendly theming with large icons. The rooms open to outside corridors. Food courts, pool bar and pizza delivery are available. There are multiple pools but no water slides. Bus Transportation is available to all parks and Disney Springs. There is one internal bus stop.
A step up from the values, Disney World’s Moderate Resorts offer more “adult” accommodations, however children of all ages will still enjoy them. At 314 sq. ft. rooms are slightly larger with more walking space, sitting space, and larger bathrooms. The rooms open to outside corridors. You have an option of two queen or one king size bed. The grounds have more traditional landscaping that puts you in the theme of the respective resort. Moderate Resorts offer more dining options, including Table-service and, in most cases, full service bars beyond just the pool bar. A main pool features a water slide and each area has its own quiet pool.
These resort hotels offer the largest non-villa type rooms with the most luxurious amenities, most coveted locations, and the best service. They also offer some of the best food, drink, and entertainment anywhere on Walt Disney World property. Most deluxe resorts can accommodate up to 5 people in a standard room starting at 344 sq. ft. Rooms open to inside corridors. Dining options at the deluxes typically consist of a few table service locations with a counter service restaurant, too. All feature pools will showcase a water slide and some pools offer cabana rentals. Rental of water crafts and bikes is available at most resorts. They also offer non- bus (monorail, walking, or boat) to at least one park.
The Villa option are a part of the Disney Vacation Club Time Shares that Disney will rent to non-members. In addition to their own properties, there are also villa options at most Deluxe Resorts. They come in studio, two- bedroom and three- bedroom options: sleeping from five to twelve people. Villas offer homelike amenities including: a full kitchen, whirlpool tub, DVD player and washer/dryer.
Things to think about: Room Size and Amenities increase as you move up in resort classification level but this may not matter to you if you’ll only be spending time in your room to sleep. Make sure you pay attention to the distinct number of sleeping surfaces in the room. You may want to consider whether members of your party feel comfortable sharing a bed. If you plan to go back and forth between your resort and the parks something within walking distance will be a huge time saver.
